Intelligent UI is a ChatGPT feature OpenAI launched with GPT-6 on October 7, 2026, letting answers combine text, charts, buttons, forms and interactive tools.
On October 7, 2026, OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 globally in ChatGPT together with a capability called Intelligent UI. OpenAI says GPT-6 decides how to combine text, visuals and interactive elements based on the question, so a response can include graphics, charts, tappable buttons, forms and interactive experiences that work directly in the conversation.
OpenAI's examples include exploring how something works through interactive visuals, asking for a game, a calculator or a bill splitter to use in the chat, changing an input to see what happens, and using controls inside a response to adjust the answer. When a plain text answer is most useful, ChatGPT can still give one, and no special prompt is required.
GPT-6 can begin answering while it keeps thinking, and the interface appears progressively as a library of native components and a compiler render it during generation. OpenAI reports that GPT-6 Instant starts answering questions that need web search 44 percent sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant, measured as time to begin answering rather than total completion time.
The rollout started on October 7 for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, powered by GPT-6 Sol, and expands to Free and Go from October 8 with GPT-6 Luna. Enterprise access depends on workspace admin settings. According to the OpenAI Help Center, the feature works on the web and in updated mobile apps but not in the older macOS and Windows desktop apps, has no separate usage quota, and can be toned down by turning off Layout and visuals in web settings.
